A leisure battery is designed for slow, steady energy release to power appliances, unlike a car battery, which provides short bursts of high power to start an engine.
Leisure batteries include flooded (wet-cell), AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat), gel, and lithium-ion. Each type has different performance, cost, and maintenance needs.
Use a compatible charger, avoid overcharging, and regularly check water levels (for wet-cell types). Keep terminals clean and ensure the battery is fully charged after use.
Store it in a cool, dry place, fully charged. Recharge every few months to prevent discharge, and disconnect it from appliances during storage.
Signs include reduced capacity, difficulty holding a charge, or visible damage like bulging or corrosion.
AH (Amp Hours) measures how long a battery can supply power. C-rating indicates the discharge rate. Both determine how well a battery meets your energy needs.
It’s not recommended, as leisure batteries are designed for long-term energy release, not the high bursts required to start an engine.
Cold temperatures reduce capacity, while excessive heat can damage the battery. Use insulation or temperature-controlled environments to protect it.
