A traditional car battery is known as a wet (or flooded) battery. In its basic form, this is a plastic container with lead plates submerged in a dilute acidic liquid electrolyte solution. These must be kept upright to avoid spillage.
There are 3 main types of traditional lead acid batteries that APD sell. The differences is essentially based on the power demands the the battery needs to fulfil. In order to achieve higher power demands then more of the active materials are needed within the battery. As a rule of thumb and taking Yuasa as an example their 1000 series batteries fulfil the basic power demands of an older vehicle or one with few additional electrical components. The 3000 series battery covers the power demands of a standard motor vehicle. The 5000 series battery is suitable for higher power demands of higher spec vehicles or those which are being used frequently.
